CONSTITUTION OF ONDO EKIMOGUN CLUB OF NEW JERSEY USA.

PREAMBLE

We, the members of the ONDO EKIMOGUN Club OF NEW JERSEY USA united by our common heritage,
cultural values, and commitment to community development, do hereby establish this constitution to
guide our affairs and promote unity, progress, and social responsibility in Ondo and beyond.

ARTICLE 1: NAME

The name of the association shall be ONDO EKIMOGUN CLUB OF NEW JERSEY USA (hereinafter referred to as “The Club”).

ARTICLE 2: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Club shall pursue the following objectives:
 Cultural Promotion: To promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Ekimogun (Ondo people).
Community Development: To support and initiate projects that enhance the well-being of members and the Ondo community.
Social Networking: To foster unity, cooperation, and strong relationships among members.
 Education & Empowerment: To support youth education, mentorship, and skill development.
 Charity & Humanitarian Efforts: To assist the less privileged through outreach programs.
 Entertainment & Recreation: To organize social events, recreational activities, and intellectual gatherings.

ARTICLE 3: MEMBERSHIP

Eligibility

Membership is open to individuals who:
• Are of Ondo descent and have a genuine interest in the Ondo Ekimogun heritage and are of good moral standing and willing to abide by the Club’s rules.

 Categories of Membership:
 Executive Members: The arms of the club: President, VP and others.
Floor Members: Full members with voting rights.
 Honorary Members: Distinguished individuals recognized for their contributions.

Rights and Responsibilities
Members have the right to participate in all activities, vote, and hold office.
Members must attend meetings, pay dues ($20 one-time registration fee & $25 monthly or $300 annual fees, which is liable to change in the future) and uphold the values of the Club.

Termination of Membership

A member may be suspended or expelled for:
 Gross misconduct.
 Failure to pay dues for six consecutive months.
Actions that tarnish the Club’s image. An individual shall be expelled after two suspensions for gross misconduct.

ARTICLE 4: EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Structure

The Club shall be governed by an Executive Committee consisting of:
President – Leads the Club and represents it publicly.
 Vice President – Assists the President and assumes duties in their absence.
 Secretary – Records minutes and manages correspondence.
 Treasurer – Manages the Club’s finances.
 Financial Secretary – Keeps records of financial transactions and membership dues.
 Public Relations Officer (PRO) – Handles media and publicity.
 Welfare Officer – Ensures members’ well-being and organizes support initiatives.
 Chief Whip: Ensure decorum during meetings and enforce of laws and order

Tenure
 The executive members shall serve for two (2) years and may be re-elected for another term. An executive that serves two terms in position is also eligible to contest for a higher position. Meanwhile, President cannot contest for any other position after two terms, but he/she becomes an
HONORARY PATRON

Elections
 Elections shall be held every two years through a transparent voting process.
 A candidate must be a member for at least one year to be eligible for executive positions (Must a diligent member that always pay dues and attend meetings regularly)

 

ARTICLE 5: MEETINGS

 Types of Meetings
 General Meetings – Held monthly to discuss club activities.
 Executive Meetings – Held quarterly and as needed by the leadership.
 Emergency Meetings – Convened when urgent matters arise.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Held once a year to review progress and elect leaders.

 Quorum
• A quorum for general meetings shall be one-third of registered members.
• A quorum for executive meetings shall be half of the committee members.

ARTICLE 6: FINANCE

 Sources of Funds

The Club shall generate funds through:
Membership dues and levies.
 Donations and sponsorships.
 Fundraising events.
Grants for community projects.

 Financial Management
The Treasurer and Financial Secretary shall maintain proper financial records.
An independent auditor shall review accounts annually.
Major expenditures must be approved by members.

 

 ARTICLE 7: DISCIPLINE


 Members must conduct themselves with integrity.
 Any member violating Club rules may face warnings, suspension, or expulsion.
The Disciplinary Committee shall handle disputes and recommend actions.

 

ARTICLE 8: AMENDMENT OF CONSTITUTION


 Any member may propose an amendment.
Amendments require a two-thirds majority vote at a General Meeting.

 

ARTICLE 9: DISSOLUTION


 The Club may be dissolved if two-thirds of members vote for it.
 Any remaining funds shall be donated to charitable causes in Ondo.

 

ARTICLE 10: GENERAL PROVISIONS


 The official language of the Club shall be English and Yoruba.
The Club shall not engage in partisan politics but may support community causes.

 

ADOPTION

This constitution was duly adopted by the members of Ekimogun Group Club, Ondo.
